The Globe and Mail:B.C. general strike averted: "A late-night deal that ended a hospital support worker walkout in British Columbia staved off the general strike that threatened to paralyze the province.
Labour unions were determined to do their best to shut down the province in support of the Hospital Employees Union, whose members had been ordered back to work under legislation that called for a retroactive pay cut."
