The Canadian military will begin testing 'smart' technologies to disrupt cellphone bombs triggered by remote control and disarm improvised roadside explosives like the ones that have killed dozens of soldiers and civilians in Iraq.
If the technologies work, they could be deployed to battlefields in Afghanistan and other Canadian missions within four years, said Col. Rick Williams, associate director general for Defence Research and Development Canada, the military's classified research lab."
